Adele made her kid a Rust costume for Halloween, though ‘can’t say he really loved it’-

Grammy-winning British singer-songwriter Adele is currently in the middle of a multi-year Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. “Weekends with Adele” runs until 2024, and the idea came about after the artist found herself fed-up with the touring life but still wishing to perform in more intimate settings where she can talk to the audience a whole bunch. Which is why she’s now in PC Gamer, because it turns out her son’s a Rust nut.

Adele’s son Angelo was born in 2012, and during a recent show she talked about their Halloween arrangements, beginning with “do we have any gamers here tonight?” There are more than a few whoops from the crowd, which the artist finds very funny, before pointing out one guy who’s “definitely a fucking gamer” and getting something off her mind about the h…

Arrowhead CEO says ‘we need to do better’ after incendiary response to flamethrower nerfs in Helldivers 2- ‘Me just talking about it isn’t enough, actions matter’-

Helldivers 2, it would seem, is having balance problems. As fellow PC Gamer writer Morgan Park noted last week, the major update Escalation of Freedom, while bringing plenty of cool new features to the game, has also set everything on fire. Again.

Similar to the balance Ides of March, Helldivers 2 has been wrestling constantly with its balance philosophy since the game came out. This is despite the fact that then-CEO (now CCO) Johan Pilestedt wrote in May “it feels like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is removed.” While promises for bigger and better patches have materialised, the change to number-tweaking strategies and a lower time-to-kill, broadly-speaking, have not.

The studio’s new CEO, Shams Jorjani, has been taking to both Twitter and the game’s Discor…

China is dispatching crack teams of AI interrogators to make sure its corporations’ chatbots are upholding ‘core socialist values’

If I were to ask you what core values were embodied in western AI, what would you tell me? Unorthodox pizza technique? Annihilating the actually good parts of copyright law? The resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come?

All of the above, perhaps, and all subordinated to the paramount value that is lining the pockets of tech shareholders. Not so in China, apparently, where AI bots created by some of the country’s biggest corporations are being subjected to a battery of tests to ensure compliance with “core socialist values,” as reported by the FT.

China’s Cyberspace Administration Centre (CAC)—the one with the throwback revolutionary-style anthem which, you have to admit, goes hard—is reviewing AI models developed by behemoths like ByteDance (t…
